The Saturday Night Showdown will be a 50 lap non-points thriller paying $2000 to win and $300 to start. There will also be drawings for a $500 cash bonus and a set of tires to sweeten the pot, according to a news release.
“Opening ceremonies will feature a parade of vehicles with area first responders, the Minter Field Air Museum, and Mopars of Bakersfield, along with a presentation of colors and the national anthem performed by CHP Public Information Officer Robert Rodriguez”, say Kern County Raceway officials.
The event will serve in place of the previously scheduled NASCAR Pro Late Model race, which has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. The Pro Late Models will return for their championship finale on Oct. 18.
A 50 lap race distance for over $12,000 in posted awards makes for a lucrative event that would also serve as a good tune-up for the upcoming CITGO Lubricants Fall Shootout 100 on October 31st through Nov. 1, says the news release.
The racing action on Sep. 13 will be a busy card that includes 30 laps of NASCAR Spec Modified action plus the return of the Saturday Night Supermoto. NASCAR Mini Stocks, Bandoleros, and 911 Racing Series are also featured during the 9-11 Tribute Night.
