Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies operated two DUI checkpoints in Santa Clarita Friday night that resulted in the arrests of 18 individuals.

A total of 2,062 vehicles were checked at the two points. The first checkpoint was situated on eastbound Soledad Canyon Road at Golden Oak Road and another was set on eastbound Newhall Ranch Road just east of Grandview Drive, according to a press release from Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station officials.
The checkpoints were conducted between 6 pm and 2 am, according to the release.
Out of the 18 arrests, 1 driver was taken into custody for driving under the influence, Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

1 Suspect was Arrested for Driving a Vehicle Not Equipped with an Ignition Interlock Device (IID) as Required by Law
3 Suspended / Revoked Drivers were Arrested and Sent to Court
14 Unlicensed Drivers were Arrested and Sent to Court
1 Vehicle was Stored for 1 Day
3 Vehicles were Impounded for 30 Days
13 Vehicles were Released per Checkpoint Release Procedures
