“We train to courageously fight the battles in the arena of character, discipline, and self control.” This is a statement that describes the atmosphere at Zanshin Shotokan which was created by Sensei Rocky Whatule who is a resident of Santa Clarita, CA.
Whatule is a national, international and world champion with over 24 years of experience. Sensei Whatule has exceeded and developed physical training of this ancient art with the Word of God and its teachings.
He has perfected this art and received a certification from Master Bill Viola II at the Allegheny Shotokan Karate Club in North Huntingdon, PA. The school’s rich tradition of Shotokan Karate originates back to Okinawa in the early 1900’s. The founder of Shotokan, Master Funakoshi-Gichin, created the style by infusing together techniques of two styles that he had studied for many years.
Below is personal experiences described by people that have attended Zanshin Shotokan:
“Rocky Whatule… teaches my kids self- control, self defense and discipline through the time- honored training of Shotokan Karate. The care for his students is plainly evident during his instruction.”
“My son has ADHD and karate is one of the activities in his young life where he receives not only strong encouragement but practical application of how to properly focus…. He does all of this using Biblical principles.”
“I wholeheartedly suggest anyone in the Santa Clarita area who might be considering adding a martial art to their schedule to contact Rocky and begin to develop the character in you and your children that will last a lifetime.”
