West Ranch Wins Division II Championship At High Desert Classic Softball Tournament

The West Ranch and Golden Valley softball teams met in the Division II finals of the High Desert Classic on Monday in Lancaster and put on a show. West Ranch won, 2-1, in eight innings. West Ranch pitcher Shayna Medoff went the distance, giving up only two hits and striking out eight. One of those hits was a solo home run by Golden Valley’s Ashley Jaramillo in the first inning.
The Valencia boys volleyball team has scheduled Warren Township from Illinois on April 1 at Valencia High School. Valencia is the reigning CIF state champions and was the top-ranked team in the nation last year. Warren Township was nationally ranked last year and won an Illinois regional championship. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. in the Valencia High School gym.
In college basketball, Hart High grad Ashlee Trebilock helped the Ohio State women’s team advance into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. She scored six points and had three rebounds in a 64-58 win over Mississippi State. Ohio State moves on to the Berkeley Regional and will play the winner of tonight’s San Diego State-Stanford game.
The Daily News is reporting that Andy Campbell is the new football coach at Golden Valley High School. Campbell comes from Silver Valley High in Yermo, where he was 11-11 in two seasons.
