College of the Canyons is offering students an opportunity to
win money for essays written about the college’s performance of the novel The
Kite Runner.

Students are being asked to make a comparison between the
play and the book written by Khalid Hosseini.

There will be a $250 prize for the first place essay and
cash prizes for second and third place as well.

Entries must be turned in to the student’s English teacher
by March 13, with the ticket stub of the play stapled to the paper.

The one-man performance will be held at the Performing Arts
Center at COC on February 22, and is presented by the Literature to Life
program.

Kite Runner is the first novel about contemporary Afghanistan
written in English, and is the College of the Canyons selection for Book of the
Year.
