Michele Emerick Buttelman was the features and entertainment editor of The Signal for 14 years. During her tenure she covered community and nonprofit news with a passion that earned her the respect of the Santa Clarita Valley.
“I believe that our sense of community is what makes us different from other areas of Southern California,” said Buttelman. “I believe the SCV is one of the most giving, caring places in the country. We are so lucky to live here.”
Buttelman recently earned a third place award for feature writing in the 2013 National Newspaper Association Better Newspaper contest.She has also earned awards from the California Newspaper Publishers Association, Society of Professional Journalists and the Los Angeles Press Club.Prior to her stint at The Signal Buttelman worked for 20 years at the Los Angeles Times.
She is a 1999 graduate of California State University, Northridge, with a degree in journalism. Buttelman also studied at the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University.Buttelman was born in Seattle, Washington and lived in Seattle and in Eastern Washington.
“I am so pleased that I can continue to bring the stories of the SCV and most importantly of the SCV nonprofits, to the residents of the SCV, through KHTS,” said Buttelman.
