A 20-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning, after
Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials say he tried to walk away from a car
wreck that injured two other youngsters.
The accident occurred in the 17300 block of Sarita
Avenue in Canyon Country, after 20- year-old Anthony
Hardy was reportedly behind the wheel when his vehicle lost control, struck a
curb, mailbox and a parked car. Investigating deputies believe that the car was
traveling at a high rate of speed upon impact.

An 18-year-old male and female were passengers in the car,
both of which sustained moderate injuries. The girl was trapped in the car and
had to be removed by responding LA County Fire Department personnel.
Hardy was uninjured, and deputies managed to take him into
custody nearby. They believe he was under the influence of alcohol.
He was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station
on a felony charge of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and a misdemeanor
charge of Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail pending future court
proceedings.
SCV Sheriff's station Captain Anthony La Berge said that it's
amazing no one died in the accident.

"This accident should serve as a poignant reminder of
the dangers associated with drinking alcohol and driving," said Captain
Anthony La Berge of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. "We are very fortunate a young life was
not lost this past weekend."
