Two Arrested, One Charged in WalMart Thefts

Flat screen TVs lead police to two suspects.

ImageA Los Angeles man arrested for suspicion of burglary charges was given a bye from the district attorney on the theft, but remains a guest of the county for outstanding warrants.

Marcio Troncoso, 21, was arrested Sunday afternoon after WalMart security alleged he and Norbert Aceves, 28, stole a flat screen TV set from a Lancaster store and attempted to steal one from a Canyon Country superstore.

The action started when officials from the WalMart on Carl Boyer Drive said two men tried to steal a TV, but got away without their intended treasure. Deputies spotted a vehicle matching the description given by the security guard and arrested Aceves, setting his bail at $20,000.

Troncoso was arrested later that afternoon when a female friend of Aceves came to the Santa Clarita station to pick up his vehicle. Deputies found Troncoso in the car and took him inside, where he was booked on the burglary and for outstanding warrants.  His bail was set at $41.522.

Both men came to court Wednesday; Aceves facing the burglary charges and one for possession of marijuana and Troncoso for burglary and two warrants. The district attorney rejected the case against Troncoso, but he remains in custody on four misdemeanor counts related to the outstanding warrants: possession of marijuana while driving, failing to use seat belts, being an unlicensed driver and having an unregistered vehicle. He is scheduled to return to court Thursday.

Aceves also remains in custody, facing felony burglary charges and misdemeanor marijuana charges. His bail was raised to $45,000 and he is scheduled to return to court January11.
