Details: The Santa Clarita Valley will benefit from the Santa Clarita Ballet’s expanded production schedule. The new production will include “Swan Lake Act 2” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. The cast comes from the Santa Clarita Ballet Company and professional dancers. The Company consists of top tier dancers with the highest rankings established by the Royal Academy of Dance. “Swan Lake Act 2” is “rich in story, choreography and the musical composition by Russian composer Peter Tchaikovsky.” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is “Shakespeare’s great comedy of meddling and quarrelsome fairies, and of the mortals who stumble into an enchanted forest filled with fairies, a beast and magical spells.” The Santa Clarita Ballet Company celebrates 18 years of ballet here in the SCV, under the leadership of Corinne Glover, Executive Director and Carol Guidry, Artistic Director. Veterans Advocacy Network “A Night With Frank Sinatra”

Details: The Veterans Advocacy Network is holding “A Night With Frank Sinatra”. The evening features the movie, “From Here To Eternity” starring Frank Sinatra and Burt Lancaster, an Italian dinner, and live entertainment. Veterans Host Committee: Mayor Bob Kellar (Army) & Kathy Kellar, Jim McCarthy (Air Force), Mayor Pro Tem Laurene Weste, RJ Kelly (USMC) & Patty Kelly, Duane Harte (Navy) & Paulene Harte, Bruce Fortine (Army) & Gloria Mercado Fortine, and Don Fleming (USMC) & Cheri Fleming. Details: Fast Frame Valencia is showcasing local artist Duwayne Williams during the month of September. A Reception will be held with light appetizers and beverages. Williams is a contemporary realist artist specializing in fine art oil paintings and photography. In 2011, Williams retired from a 40 year career as a U.S. Army aviator and has published several books about his military experiences and other subjects. Details: Get into the spirit of the changing seasons at Lombardi Ranch. Lombardi Ranch has been a staple in Santa Clarita for over 30 years, especially at pumpkin time. Lombardi Ranch is a working farm offering seasonal produce for sale, in addition to Halloween pumpkins. Enjoy Scarecrow Alley, live bands, petting zoos, wagon rides, face paintings, and more. Bake sales happen every weekend manned by various Santa Clarita organizations. As every Santa Clarita school age child knows, no little one leaves empty handed. There are balloons, stickers and candy for each little hand. The Lombardi Ranch Scarecrow Contest is perfect for a family, non-profit, scout group and more, to enter. The Scarecrow Contest will be held Sunday, September 29 awarding cash prizes. Even if you are not entering, Scarecrow Alley is an enjoyable and often times, scary walk through the corn fields. River Rally Clean-Up & Environmental Expo – Register Now
When: Saturday, September 21 from 8-11am – must pre-register by Friday, September 13
Where: Newhall Community Center, 22421 Market Street, Newhall
Details: The City of Santa Clarita is hosting the 19th annual “River Rally Clean-Up and Environmental Expo. The river clean-up will involve removing trash from Newhall Creek. Volunteers must pre-register in order to participate by calling 661-284-1415 or online. Clean-up participants should wear closed-toe shoes, clothing appropriate for walking in the riverbed, and sunscreen. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. The Environmental Expo will feature different ways to help protect and preserve the environment. There will be information available on recycling, air quality, pollution prevention, water quality, open space preservation, and wildlife conservation programs. More information is available online. SCV Vietnam Wall
When: September 26 through September 29 – 24 hours a day
Where: on Citrus Street side of the Westfield Valencia Town Center
Details: Santa Clarita is poised to welcome the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall. This wall is the largest traveling replica of the actual Vietnam Memorial Wall. It is an 80% replica with 100% of the names of the victims from the Vietnam War. Local resident Chuck Morris plays a definitive part in bringing the wall to Santa Clarita. Morris helps organize the annual Memorial Day parade with the Friendly Valley Veterans Squad in Friendly Valley. He heard about the wall but inquiries made him realize that it was much too big for Friendly Valley parade purposes. But he thought of three important reasons for the traveling wall to come to Santa Clarita. As Morris says, “The first was for people who have relatives or people who have relatives on the wall and can’t afford to go to Washington, D.C., so they can see the wall,” Morris said. “The second reason is what an amazing thing this will be for our city,” Morris said, noting that the SCV has one of the highest per capita veteran populations in the state. Finally, “It’s also about education, he said, noting that most schools don’t include the Vietnam War in their history lessons.” Many opportunities have arisen with the coming of the wall: kids essay contest for grades 4-6, volunteers for a continuous reading of the wall names, and more. Boy Scouts of America “Leaders of Character Recognition Dinner”

Details: The Hart District of Boy Scouts of America will hold their annual “Leaders of Character Recognition Dinner” to recognize honorees from the Santa Clarita Valley. These honorees exemplify the Character, Values and Leadership espoused by the Boy Scout Oath and the Scout Law in their personal and public lives. This year’s honorees are: Bob and Margo Hudson, Cary and Kirsten Quashen, and Fred and Kristen Arnold. Arif Halaby, CEO of Total Financial Solutions in Newhall, started the event in 2006 when he was approached by a local Boy Scout troop that needed to raise money to buy equipment. Details: Michael Hoefflin Foundation is holding their premier event “Evening Under The Stars”. The evening includes dinner provided by Salt Creek Grille Catering and drinks. Entertainment will be provided by Surf Tunes, the original backup singers to the Beach Boys. There will be live and silent auctions with a wide variety of items. City of Santa Clarita “NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition”
When: Wednesday, September 18 from 4-7pm
Where: Santa Clarita Sports Complex, 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway at Golden Valley Parkway
Details: Kids can participate in one of the NFL’s longest-standing youth football traditions at the City of Santa Clarita’s “NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition”. The competition includes boys and girls divisions in age categories 6-7, 8-9, 10-00, 12-13, and 14-15. All participants launch one punt, one pass and one kick, with scores in distance and accuracy. Details: GraceFest AV is a premier music and message festival. Friday evening is the free Prayer Rally featuring pastors, prayer and music. Details: Samuel Dixon Family Health Center is holding their 11th Annual “Rubber Ducky Festival”. Adopt your winning ducklings online. Winning ducks can earn a Grand Prize of $2,500 gift card, second prize of $1,500 gift card and third prize of $500 gift card. Individual duck adoption is $5, Quack Family (5ducks, plus one free) for $25, Quacker’s Dozen (10 ducks, plus 2 free) for $50, and Duck Flock (20 ducks, plus 4 free) for $100.
