Host of the KHTS Morning Show every weekday from 6 AM – 9 AM and Friday Matinee every Friday Noon – 1 PM
I am a Southern California native who transplanted to Santa Clarita in 1993.
I had no interest in radio when I was young. I heard my first Beatle record at the age of 9 and wanted to be….THEM…when I grew up. I played in some rock bands (Believe me, none you have heard of!), and then one day my girlfriend (Who later became my wife) brought home a pamphlet that described the broadcasting program at the college she was attending.
Next thing I knew, I was going back to college full time and taking all the classes, labs, and news shifts I could handle. This was back in the days when “cutting sound” meant you literally CUT sound! I filled in on any and every radio shift I could, and eventually became Program Director of my college’s radio station. Because I was going to school on the GI Bill, I had to declare a 4 year major, so I went for a Communications degree…and got bogged down in college algebra! I had also been newly married, so I decided to take a short break from school and broadcasting…which lasted 20 years!
In the meantime, I had several jobs, started a company or two, produced sound for various live theatrical projects and also produced freelance multimedia projects for the web.
It just so happened that I ran into the right people at the right time, and rigorously auditioned to get back on the mic. I couldn’t be happier! It’s amazing how things work out if you let them.
