    UPDATE: Trial To Start In September For Alleged Gang Members In 2011 Killing

    A pretrial hearing is underway Monday in the trial of three then-teens accused of fatally shooting man in an alleged robbery that turned deadly on Halloween 2011. The “Halloween trio,” Diamonte Jerome McGhee, 20, Branden Trevaughn Higgs, 19, and Eric Michael Edwards, 20, were all under 18 when they initially were arrested on charges they were involved in the death of Alex Sanchez and wounded Ricardo Sandoval during a robbery gone awry Oct. 21, 2011. The pretrial hearing today was expected to review motions for the case, which could start trial next week.

Simpson, a former NFL and film star, was acquitted of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Kim’s brother, Ronald Goldman, in 1995, then found liable for the deaths in a civil trial in 1997. “I think people talk about forgiveness as part of the grieving process because they don’t understand what you go through,” Goldman said, discussing the title. “For me, there really is no opportunity to forgive -- he stabbed my brother to death -- it’s just not possible for me.”

    A Canyon Country CEO charged with asking a hitman to have his model wife killed could have his trial start May 1 if things remain on schedule, according to officials with the District Attorney’s Office. Dino Guglielmelli, 52, of Canyon Country, who founded the multimillion-dollar business Creation’s Garden, was ordered to stand trial in December after being accused of trying to pay $80,000 to have his wife, Monica Andreny, killed. On April 22, the case is coming back for an update on attorney motions, as the defendent refused to waive time in the trial.
