    Sober Living Facility Upsets Happy Valley Neighbors

    A group of Happy Valley residents upset over a business that recently opened in their residential neighborhood brought concerns Tuesday to Santa Clarita City Council members. One of the business’s co-owners said he’s done everything he can to respect the neighbors and their concerns, and his sober living facility is operating within the confines of the law. Santa Clarita officials issued a notice of violation Tuesday regarding a city ordinance regulating how many tenants are in the home.

    Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District Discusses Sewer Rate Increase

    Santa Clarita Valley sewage officials formally introduced a rate hike Monday of $16 each year for the next six years in order to pay for a state-mandated chloride-compliance plan. “The goal has been to protect the Santa Clarita Valley ratepayer from substantial fines,” said Grace Chan, chief engineer for the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District. The move ended the state’s Proposition 218 hearing process necessary for a rate change, which is expected to be approved at a Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District meeting next Monday at Santa Clarita City Hall.
