    Families, Veterans, Friends – Good  Afternoon – I’m very privileged to be here to help honor the memory of these more than fifty-eight thousand fallen Service Members that paid the ultimate price on behalf of our Country and for all of us.

    When President George Herbert Walker Bush visited the wall during his Presidency, he said, “Carved on these walls is the story of America, of a continuing quest to preserve both Democracy and decency, and to protect a national treasure that we call the American dream.”

    Welcome to the final ceremony of the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall’s visit to Santa Clarita Valley and thank you for coming tonight. We have a great program lined up for you tonight but before we begin, I’d like to highlight and thank some of the key players who have made this week possible:

    More Than 260 Read The Names At Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall

    More than 260 community volunteers and local boy scouts came together while the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall was in town, to read the 58,238 names. Each volunteer received a commemorative challenge coin.

    The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall was only in Santa Clarita for four days, but the impact it had on the thousands of visitors is far-reaching, serving as a part of the healing process for veterans and a teaching tool for local youth.
