    Tim White Wins Silver Medal In Triple Jump At Pan American Junior Meet

    College of the Canyons triple jumper Tim White won the silver medal on a tiebreaker at the Pan American Junior Track and Field Championships in Colombia.

    White, a Hart High graduate, recorded a personal-best jump of 54 feet, 1 ¼ inches, but he was second to Lazaro Martinez of Cuba.

    Martinez is the reigning World Youth champion in the triple jump. He also recorded a jump of 54 feet, 1 ¼ inches. The gold medal was awarded to the athlete with the best second jump. Martinez’s second jump was 53 feet, 9 inches to White’s 53 feet, 5 ½ inches.

    COC Triple Jumper Set To Compete At Panamerican Junior Championships

    College of the Canyons triple jumper Tim White is competing in the Panamerican Junior Championships in Colombia this weekend.

    White is the US Junior Outdoor Track and Field champion in the triple jump. He set a school record at the US Junior National meet in 53 feet, 1 inch in June.

    Santa Clarita's Allyson Felix Tears Hamstring In 200 Meter Final

    Allyson Felix, Santa Clarita’s most decorated Olympic athlete, tore her hamstring in the 200 meter final at the world championships in Moscow, Russia, and did not finish the race.

    She was in position to win a record fourth world title in the 200. She won three gold medals at the Summer Olympics in London in 2012. One of her gold medals was in the 200.

    The Master's College Women's Soccer Team Wins Season Opener

    The Master’s College women’s soccer team shut out Grace from Indiana, 4-0, in the season opener for both teams.

    The Lady Mustangs scored three goals in the second half. Jordan Benson scored a goal and had two assists. Jasmine Benson had a goal and an assist.

    Tara Struiksma gave the Lady Mustangs a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first half. Stephanie Albright scored the fourth and final goal for The Master’s College in the 72nd minute.

    Race No. 3 In College Of The Canyons Cross Country Series Is Tonight

    The third race in the College of the Canyons Cross Country Series is tonight.

    Istevan De La Rosa won the second race in the series in 15 minutes, 37.9 seconds. Phillip Rocha was second followed by Alfredo Coronado in third.

    Santa Clarita Blue Heat's Ana Borges Selected To W-League All-Conference Team

    Santa Clarita Blue Heat forward Ana Borges was selected to the W-League All Western Conference team. She was the only player from the Blue Heat on the all-conference team.

    Borges scored six goals and had an assist in 12 games.

    The Blue Heat were 4-7-1 and finished in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

    Valaika, Zeile Win NCAA College World Series With UCLA Baseball Team

    The UCLA Bruins, with a pair of Foothill League veterans, won the NCAA College World Series by sweeping Mississippi State.

    UCLA shut out Mississippi State, 8-0, in the championship game.

    Alysia Montaño Wins 800m At USA Outdoor Track And Field Championships

    Days after College of the Canyons athlete Tim White won the triple jump event at the U.S. Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships, another Santa Clarita native made headlines in Track and Field.

    Alysia Montaño won the Women’s 800 Meter race on Sunday at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. She became the first woman to win four straight 800 meter titles at this event.

    The former Canyon High School graduate ran a blistering time of 1:58:67, edging out her closest competition by 11 milliseconds. 

    Tim White From College Of The Canyons Wins US Junior National Championship In Triple Jump

    Tim White, a freshman at College of the Canyons and a Hart High graduate, won the triple jump at the US Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake University in Iowa.

    He won the event with a school record 53 feet, 1 inch jump and became the first track athlete from COC to win a national championship. White broke his personal best jump of 52 feet when he won the Western State Conference championship in April.

    The College of the Canyons track and field received exciting news this afternoon as freshman Tim White had won the triple jump at the U.S. Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Des Moines, Iowa.
