    California Highway Patrol Cautions Motorists During Inclement Weather

    California Highway Patrol Spokesman John Lutz warns motorists to drive slowly and carefully during rainy and inclement weather, as 24 percent of annual traffic collisions across the nation are weather-related.

    Traffic Snarled On I-5 As Sigalert Closes Three Lanes

    The California Highway Patrol closed three lanes of the Interstate 5 freeway at Magic Mountain Parkway after a commuter reported debris scattered across traffic lanes just after 5:00 this morning.

    Witnesses reported that several big rigs and vehicles had struck the debris and were pulled over on the right shoulder. CHP also reported minor damage to the expansion bridge at Magic Mountain Parkway on the northbound side of Interstate 5. 

    I-405 Freeway Will Close For 20 Hours In Bridge Demolition Preparation

    During the weekend of August 17 to 18, crews will demolish the old southbound I-405 / eastbound SR-22 connector bridge, requiring a 20-hour full closure of the I-405 freeway. In preparation of the bridge demolition, the WCC team along with our partners at Caltrans have been busy promoting the upcoming closure.

    Overturned Tanker Snarls Traffic On Southbound 14

    A SIGALERT was issued by the California Highway Patrol just before 5AM this morning due to an overturned big rig carrying a load of cement. The incident took place on teh 14 freeway southbound at Placerita Canyon Road. As a result, the Placerita Canyon off ramp remains closed until further notice. Traffic was reported to be backed up to Sand Canyon Road.

    One Lane Open On Highway 14 As Overturned Big Rig Backs Up Southbound Traffic

    A big rig carrying over 39,000 pounds of meat overturned on its side after colliding with another vehicle on Highway 14 just south of Sand Canyon at approximately 4:10AM this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. Both vehicles suffered significant damage, and emergency crews were called to treat injuries at the scene.

    The collision blocked the number 2 and number 3 lanes, causing the CHP issued a SigALERT at 4:30AM until further notice.
