    Saugus High School Announces New Head Basketball Coach

    The Saugus High School Athletic Department announced today that Bill Bedgood will become the new Boys Basketball coach effective immediately. Coach Bedgood has a significant coaching history at the high school level as well as a basketball pedigree that includes local roots as a player at HartHigh School and College of the Canyons. He has been the Head Boys’ Varsity Basketball Coach at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks from 2005-2012 as well as the Head Varsity Coach at Bishop Alemany from 2002-2005 and at Antelope Valley Christian High School from 1999-2001.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Master's College Women's Basketball Starts In Kentucky

    The Master’s College women’s basketball team opens the NAIA Division I national tournament against Bethel from Tennessee tonight in Kentucky.

    The Lady Mustangs are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA. They are making their ninth appearance in the NAIA national basketball tournament.

    Bethel is 21-10 and making its fifth appearance in the NAIA national tournament.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Master’s College Men’s Basketball Wins In Overtime

    The Master’s College men’s basketball team needed double overtime but won its first-round game in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

    The Mustangs knocked off Arizona Christian University, 80-77, and advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.

    Derrick Fain scored 23 points and made six 3-pointers for The Master’s College.

    The score was tied 63-63 at the end of regulation. After the first overtime period, the score was 71-71. The Master’s College outscored Arizona Christian, 9-6, in the second overtime.

    SCCS Girls Soccer: Best Ever Season Comes To A Close

    Santa Clarita Christian School’s 2013-2014 girls soccer season – the most successful season in the history of SCCS varsity soccer – came to an end Tuesday night on the field at College of the Canyons.

    Facing Gabrielino (San Gabriel), a high school with a senior class more than twice the size the entire SCCS high school student body, the Lady Cardinals lost their first and final game of the season, 4-1 in the CIF-Southern Section Division 7 semifinals.

    The Hart boys basketball team remained undefeated in the Foothill League with a 83-43 thrashing against West Ranch.

    The 40-point blowout was the biggest margin of victory against a Foothill League opponent for Hart this season. The Indians improved to 6-0 in league. Lewis Franklin led Hart with 26 points. Myles Franklin scored 20.

    West Ranch dropped to 3-3 in the Foothill League.
