Grilled Corn Chowder Hometown Recipe, By Chef Dawn Walker

Now that it is cooling down a bit, I like to get in the kitchen and prepare soups and stews.  My family loves soup, specially when I provide a bunch of toppings for them to "customize" their meal.  This recipe was featured in the July 2013 of Better Homes and Gardens however I have altered it a bit from its original form.

    Hometown Recipes: Pot Roast

When I was growing up my parents would make pot roast every now and again, but mostly on Sundays. It was an economical and convenient meal as the ingredients were Erin Walgamuthinexpensive and everything was in one pot! I remember that our house would always smell wonderful when there was a pot roast in the oven. Well, it is still, to this day, an economical meal to make for a family, and yes, your home will be filled with the lovely aroma of braising meat and vegetables. Enjoy!

Hometown Recipes: Old Fashioned Butterscotch Pudding With a Modern Twist

    Erin WalgamuthBY ERIN WALGAMUTH

I have mentioned before that when I was a youngster I loved making pudding. Most of the pudding recipes I used came from my mom’s paperback Betty Crocker cookbook. I still have the book which is held together with a rubber band.  Ah, the memories!

Lately I have seen recipes in cooking magazines for Butterscotch Pudding which set off a yearning for the ones I made long, long ago. I decided to dress this one up a bit with the addition of dark chocolate and sea salt, yum!

This recipe is super easy to make and you probably have all the ingredients on hand. I will serve this pudding all dressed up with the chocolate to dinner guests, but plain and unadorned, it’s still a delicious, healthy dessert for the whole family! Enjoy.

Hometown Recipes: Quick And Easy Tomato And Roasted Red Pepper Soup

    Erin WalgamuthBY: ERIN WALGAMUTH

Last night my youngest daughter and I were the only ones home at dinner time. We had decided earlier in the day that we were going to make grilled sandwiches, heat up some soup and watch one of our favorite chick-flicks, Practical Magic. Since it was a cold, blustery night this seemed like the perfect plan, and it was!

Hometown Recipes: Simple Pasta and Zucchini Casserole

    by Erin Walgamuth

This recipe is for a casserole that I threw together over the Christmas holiday when we had a commitment-free evening - which I must say, were few and far between!Erin Walgamuth

The lovely thing about this dish is that it can be customized easily. I have made it with sliced sweet Italian chicken sausage, and have made it vegetarian. Last night, since I didn’t have sausage, I included grated fresh zucchini, and it was delicious!

My family and I were at our friend’s Rose and David’s house for a wonderful get-together last weekend. As usual, we all had a wonderful time visiting with our old friends and thoroughly enjoying the fantastic food made by Rose.Erin Walgamuth
