    Santa Clarita Settles With State Over Wastewater Chloride Fine

    The Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District has reached a settlement with the state of California over the district's alleged failure to meet a deadline to comply with our valley’s wastewater chloride levels mandated by the state.

    The settlement reduces the original proposed fine from $280,000 down to $225,000.

    City of Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar says that while he’s happy the district was able to reduce the fine by 20 percent, he is not pleased with the lack of progress the SCV has made in reducing its wastewater chloride problem.

    City To Dedicate New Fire House On Golden Valley Road

    The City of Santa Clarita is inviting residents to attend the dedication of its newest fire station. The new station, Fire Station 50, is located at 19190 Golden Valley Road in Santa Clarita.

    The station houses nine firefighters, three battalion chiefs and an assistant chief, according to information provided by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

    Elks Club To Roast Former City Manager Pulskamp

    Santa Clarita City Mayor and Elks Lodge Roast Master Bob Kellar (seen right) will host a comedy roast of Santa Clarita's former City Manager, Ken Pulskamp, at the Lodge's 15th Annual Elks Roast on Saturday, March 23. The roast will be held at the Elks Lodge in Canyon Country.

    Parks And Rec Launches New Online Registration System

    The Santa Clarita Parks and Recreation Department has launched a new online recreation system that will allow residents to easily search our and register for upcoming classes. Community members can explore the new “Rec1” system before registration opens at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

    SCV Libraries Host Environmental Workshops For Students

    The City of Santa Clarita will host a three-part workshop series designed to educate K-12 students on how to prevent pollution and protect our environment. The first workshop in the series will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, at the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street in Newhall.
