    Santa Clarita Blue Heat Women's Soccer Team Rally For Draw Against Colorado

    The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team scored two second-half goals and played the Colorado Rapids to a 2-2 draw at The Master’s College.

    Yadira Toraya scored off a corner kick in the 70th minute to cut the Rapids lead in half, 2-1.

    Lizz Franco scored a minute later off a free kick to tie the score, 2-2.

    Antelope Valley Ice Hockey Team Wins Ice Station Valencia High School Championship

    The Antelope Valley ice hockey team won the Ice Station Valencia high school championship for the second year in a row.

    Antelope Valley beat Valencia, 4-3, in the championship game. Liam Stirtzinger had a hat trick and assisted on Antelope Valley’ first goal.

    Valencia took a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Antelope Valley tied the score on a goal by Kyle Ljunggren.

    Valencia High Graduate Max Homa Wins NCAA Golf Championship

    Valencia High graduate Max Homa won the NCAA individual golf championship by shooting a 4-under 66 in the final round in Milton, Ga.

    Homa, a senior at UC Berkeley, was two shots off the lead entering the final round of the NCAA golf championship. He birdied three of the first five holes to take the lead.

    Cal earned the top seed in the team match play portion of the tournament behind Homa’s strong effort.

    Five Foothill League Athletes Advance To CIF State Track And Field Finals

    Five track and field athletes from the Foothill League qualified for the CIF state finals at the Masters Meet at Cerritos College over the weekend.

    Saugus sophomore Sabrina Janes won the 800 meters and will move on to the CIF state championship meet in Clovis this weekend.

    Two other athletes from Saugus qualified for the state meet. Samantha Ortega will compete in the 3,200 after finishing in fifth place at the Masters Meet in a personal best 10 minutes, 30.68 seconds.

    The Master's College's John Gilbertson Wins NAIA Track Championship In 5,000 Meters

    John Gilbertson from The Master’s College won the 5,000-meter race at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Marion, Ind., and earned All-American honors.

    He won the race in 14 minutes, 8.07 seconds and became the first runner from The Master’s College to win a national championship. He also earned NAIA All-American honors in the 10,000 meters after finishing third in the race.

    West Ranch Softball Team Loses To Santiago In Quarterfinals Of CIF Playoffs

    The West Ranch softball team lost to Santiago from Corona, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

    The Wildcats ended their deepest playoff run in school history to a familiar foe. The two teams have played four times this season with Santiago winning all four games.

    Lauren Lombardi hit a solo home run for the Wildcats in the second inning to tie the score, 1-1. Kylie Sorenson hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to tie the score again, 3-3.

    West Ranch Faces Santiago Of Corona In Quarterfinals Of CIF Softball Playoffs

    The West Ranch softball team plays Santiago from Corona today in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

    West Ranch is coming off an 8-4, extra inning win over Foothill on Tuesday. Santiago eliminated Vista Murrieta in the second round.

    The game is at West Ranch and starts at 3:15.

    West Ranch Softball Team Plays Foothill In Second Round Of CIF Playoffs Today

    The West Ranch softball team is the last team standing from the Foothill League in the CIF playoffs.

    The Wildcats play Foothill in the second round of the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs today. Foothill upset second-seeded Mater Dei in the first round.

    West Ranch beat Rancho Cucamonga, 4-1, in its first-round playoff game.

    Valencia Baseball Team Slams Past Westlake In CIF Playoffs

    The Valencia baseball team beat Westlake, 11-2, in the wild-card round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

    AJ Balta hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to give the Vikings a 9-2 lead. He was 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

    Valencia plays Harvard-Westlake, the No. 3 seeded team in the Division 1 playoffs, on Thursday.
