In November of 1993, Malibu was engulfed in firestorms which led the Los Angeles County Fire Department to bolster its wildland firefighting aircrafts along with the addition of “Superscoopers” during the height of Southern California’s fire season. The “Superscoopers are back again on their 20th season that is supposed to be the worst in 100 years.
The Castaic boy found by his parents in a washing machine on Wednesday is in the hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made in this case, and detectives are currently investigating the incident.
Los Angeles County Fire officials reported a small grass fire near Sierra Highway and Via Princessa in Canyon Country. A first alarm response, or 115 personnel, were dispatched at 1:30 p.m. The fire was knocked down at 2:04 p.m.
For those who would like to express their sympathy to the families of Kevin Woyjeck and the other Granite Mountain Hotshots who lost their lives fighting the wildfire in Yarnell, Ariz., several memorial funds and websites have been set up.
Among the Granite Mountain Hotshots killed in the line of duty in Arizona on Sunday, was 21-year-old Kevin Woyjeck. Woyjeck's father, Joe Woyjeck, has served as captain of the Los Angeles County Fire Department for nearly 30 years.
