Santa Clarita Teen Gets 45 Days, Serves 3 For Theft Charges

A Santa Clarita teen received a 45-day jail sentence for petty theft Friday, after requesting a trial on two charges for a Walmart burglary and losing the case. Joseph Munoz, 19, of Canyon Country, was accused of going into the Walmart on Carl Boyer Drive with the intent to steal. “He was found guilty on two counts -- petty theft and second degree commercial burglary,” said Ricardo Santiago, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. “Both (charges) are misdemeanors, and in both, the victim is Walmart.”
