California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to implement closures as part of a project that is constructing a truck lane on southbound I-5 between Pico Canyon Road/Lyons Avenue and the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14).
Expected road closures will be on Sept. 3 to Sept. 6.
Northbound I-5 in north Los Angeles County will be reduced to three lanes Aug. 30, at 5 a.m. to Sept. 3, at 5 a.m. Lane closures will begin two miles south of Vista Del Lago Road to two miles south of Smokey Bear Road.
Road closures on the southbound I-5 between Pico Canyon Road/Lyons Avenue and the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14) have been planned by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Implemented closures are due to the construction of a truck lane.
Caltrans will implement two closures this week as part of the ongoing effort to create a carpool lane in the San Fernando Valley and to improve the pavement between Vista Del Lago and Kern County Line in Gorman.
Two Caltrans construction projects will affect traffic on Interstate-5 this week. Caltrans will close southbound I-5 in the San Fernando Valley Monday night through Wednesday morning and reopen the Gorman Road on-ramp to northbound I-5 on Wednesday.
A hit-and-run collision Wednesday morning on southbound Interstate 5, near Parker Road, injured seven people, officials said the driver of a white SUV who fled the scene traveling southbound on I-5 is believed to be responsible for the collision.
