    Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 22, 2014

    The Canyon football team beat Burbank, 35-21, and won its second game in a row.

    Canyon running back Myron McAfee rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns.

    Canyon improved to 2-2. Burbank lost for the first time this season and dropped to 2-1.

    Valencia and Hart won their football games on Friday night.

    Saugus and West Ranch lost their games.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 19, 2014

    The Canyon football team will look to even its record against Burbank tonight.

    The Cowboys won their first game of the season last week against Eastside.

    Burbank is 2-0 and coming off a 15-14 win over Bell.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 17, 2014

    The West Ranch girls golf team won the second Foothill League match of the season. Golden Valley’s Elisa Pierre shot the low round for the second time in a row.

    West Ranch won the match by 18 strokes over Golden Valley at the Balboa Municipal Golf Course in Encino.

    West Ranch’s Ashley Mayhall shot the low round for her team, a 1-over 37.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 16, 2014

    The Valencia and Hart football teams remained in the top 10 in the CIF Southern Section West Valley Division poll. But there is a new No. 1 team in the West Valley Division.

    Valencia is ranked No. 3 for the second week in a row despite losing to Chaminade on Friday night.

    Hart moved down a spot to No. 9 despite winning its first game of the season. The Indians blew out Paraclete, 49-17.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 15, 2014

    The Hart football team won its first game of the season.

    The Valencia football lost for the first time.

    Hart beat Paraclete, 49-17, at College of the Canyons. The Indians led 28-3 at halftime behind another big game from quarterback Brady White.

    He threw six touchdown passes and had 344 yards. Blake Fall caught three touchdown passes.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 12, 2014

    The Hart football team is off to a slow start. The Indians will look to turn their season around tonight against Paraclete.

    Hart, ranked No. 8 in the CIF Southern Section West Valley Division, is 0-2 after losses to Chaminade and Chino Hills.

    Paraclete is coming off its first win of the season, 16-14, over Dorsey last week.

    The West Ranch girls golf team won the first Foothill League match of the season at Elkins Ranch in Fillmore.

    The West Ranch girls won the match by 15 strokes over Golden Valley. Three West Ranch golfers finished in the top-five.

    The Valencia football team won its season opener and rose to No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section West Valley Division poll.

    The Vikings posted a convincing win over Palmdale on Friday night. They are the only team in the Foothill League with a winning record.

    It was another rough weekend for high school football teams from the Foothill League.

    Valencia was the only team to win on Friday night.

    The rest of the teams went a combined 0-5. Hart, Canyon and Saugus are a combined 0-6 after the first two weeks of the season.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 05, 2014

    The Hart football team looks to rebound after losing its season opener to Chino Hills last week.

    Hart, ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section West Valley Division poll, plays Chaminade tonight. Hart lost to Chaminade last year in the CIF Southern California Regional Bowl game.

    Hart is still the Southern Section Northern Division champion.  But the Indians need a win to avoid going 0-2 to start the season.
