Agua Dulce Man, LAPD Detective Supervisor Seeks Sheriff's Office

Agua Dulce resident Lou Vince, a detective supervisor with the Los Angeles Police Department, is running for sheriff to bring “a broader perspective” to the Sheriff’s Department, he said Thursday. “I see the office of the sheriff as a leader in the criminal justice system,” Vince said, adding that the office of Sheriff provides the opportunity to go beyond just finding the best ways tomake arrests, which is the focus of the LAPD. “I want to improve outcomes for people, instead of finding new and better ways to put them in jail, which is what cops are in the business of,” Vince said, “and improving the county as a whole.”

While Saugus Union Awaits Lawsuit, Stephen Winkler Remains Absent

Saugus Union School District board members are hoping a lawsuit working its way through court will help them legally oust Stephen Winkler, however he might have abandoned his school board seat already, according to the board’s bylaws. SUSD officials filed a quo warranto lawsuit seeking to remove board member Winkler from office Feb. 25; last week, he indicated plans to fight the suit. SUSD board members voted 4-1 on June 18 to vacate Winkler’s seat, after district officials claimed a private investigator they hired gave proof Winkler violated the law by maintaining a residence outside SUSD boundaries.
