    Congressman Buck McKeon Decries Department Of Defense Cuts

    Congressman McKeon issued a statement regarding recently announced Department of Defense furloughs

    Congressman McKeon’s Support of Continuing Resolution

    Washington- Today, Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee addressed his colleagues on the subject of passing a Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government through fiscal year 2013.  

    The resolution includes a full year appropriation for the Department of Defense.  The Continuing Resolution passed by a vote of 267-151.  McKeon's remarks below are as prepared for delivery:

    Buck McKeon Takes Stand On Department Of Defense Furloughs

    The Department of Defense today officially informed Congress of its intent to impose furloughs on the Department of Defense’s entire civilian workforce as it copes with the automatic spending cuts known as “sequestration.” The furlough program will go forward if sequestration is not avoided.
