    Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Deputies Keeping Close Eye On Parolees

    The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Crime Prevention Unit is keeping a close eye on parolees in its patrol area, said station officials, who released new numbers Thursday.

    “Our primary responsibility as law enforcement is to keep the community safe,” said Sheriff’s Station Deputy Josh Dubin.

    Santa Clarita Detectives Investigating Burglary, Vandalism At Pinetree Elementary

    Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are investigating a July 22 report of vandalism and burglary at Pinetree Community Elementary School, officials said Wednesday. Six iPads were taken, a set of master keys was stolen and several doors were vandalized, according to Lynn David, assistant superintendent of business services for the Sulphur Springs School District. “The break-in was in the early morning hours,” David said. “It was discovered when our custodian came on campus -- and then he reported it to district personnel and law enforcement.”

    CHP Seeking Accreditation From CALEA For Communication Operations

    California Highway Patrol officials are seeking accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, or CALEA, for their communications operations. “The communication centers are the front lines of public safety and service, our dispatchers working in these facilities are fielding the vast majority of wireless 9-1-1 calls in the state,” said CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow. “The accreditation process for our communications unit is another excellent opportunity for the public to provide feedback about our operations as we continue to promote transparency and accountability while striving to improve our organization.”

    A Santa Clarita Valley teen was cited for marijuana possession in Valencia after a brief investigation in front of the office for the Detectives Bureau of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, officials said Wednesday. A Sheriff's Station detective returning to the office from the nearby Valencia courthouse walked by two teenagers who were next to a glass wall by the entrance of the bureau’s headquarters.
