    The College of the Canyons is preparing for its second Spring 2014 Job and Career Fair in Canyon Country, which will provide a place for employers to connect with job-seekers.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Hart And Saugus Baseball In First After Dramatic Wins

    The Kings kept the magic alive with a 4-3 overtime win over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Western Conference semifinals on Saturday.

    The Kings will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series tonight.

    Marian Gaborik scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Game 1. He also scored the goal that tied the score with seven seconds to play in regulation.

    Game 2 is tonight in Anaheim. Listen to the game on AM 1220 KHTS. The puck drops at 7.

    College Of The Canyons Honor Society Holds Food And Clothing Drive

    College of the Canyons’ Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society helped gather food and clothing Saturday for donation to the Santa Clarita branch of Help the Children.

    Santa Clarita Sports: Four-Way Tie For First In Foothill League Baseball

    The Valencia and West Ranch baseball teams won their Foothill League games on Wednesday and created a four-way tie for first place.

    Valencia, West Ranch, Hart and Saugus are tied with 7-3 records atop the Foothill League standings.

    Valencia shut out Saugus, 5-0, scoring three runs in the sixth inning to pull away in the game.

    COC Offering ‘Blockbuster Summer’ Session With Seats For 19,000 Students

    College of the Canyons officials are planning a ‘Blockbuster Summer’ schedule of classes with seats for more than 19,000 students, COC officials announced Wednesday.

    Santa Clarita Sports: College Of The Canyons Baseball Playoffs Begin

    The College of the Canyons baseball team opens the California Community College Athletic Association playoffs against East LA College today.

    COC is the No. 18 seed in the Southern California Regional. The Cougars have a 19-16-1 overall record.

    East LA is the No. 15 seed and has a 23-13 record.

    The two teams met in the first game of the season in January. COC won 3-2.

    Peachland, Wiley Canyon Students Experience Hip Hop Dancing

    For nine weeks, Tiffany Bong of Universoul Hip Hop has been working with 6th grade students at Peachland and Wiley Canyon Elementary Schools. On Friday, several dance crews from each school performed in front of professional hip hop dancers.

    Suicide often carries a stigma with it, but College of the Canyons wants to help remove that stigma and encourage open discussion among students with the Suicide Prevention and Awareness Event on April 29 and 30.

    College Of The Canyons To Host Spring Star Party In May

    The first confirmed discovery of an exoplanet—a planet that orbits a star outside of the Earth’s solar system—was of 51 Pegasi b in 1995. Since then, with the advance of telescope technology and emerging research, hundreds of exoplanets have been discovered, forever changing our view of the universe.

    This exciting topic will be the focus of the College of the Canyons Canyon Country campus’ spring Star Party in May.
