    The College of the Canyons Job and Career Center, in partnership with KHTS AM 1220, will host its annual fall fair providing job seekers with employment opportunities in various industries and career fields.

    A former College of the Canyons employee is taking his vision to the state level by improving online college courses.

    “During his time as director of distance learning at College of the Canyons, John Makevich oversaw the growth of one of the most comprehensive online programs available to California’s community college students,” according to a COC news release.

    Waste Management Workshop To Be Hosted By College Of The Canyons

    College of the Canyons is hosting a workshop for Santa Clarita residents that focuses on medical hazardous waste management.

    The workshop Hazardous Waste Management and Pollution Prevention for Medical and Dental Offices and Hospitals will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 17, in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, Room 258, located on the college's Valencia campus (University Center Drive entrance).

    Gaby Mendoza, from Ecuador, started at College of the Canyons campus for the first time three years ago with a lack of direction and no social circle to latch onto.

    Those circumstances were only temporary — as with her acceptance to NASA's National Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) program in August, Mendoza confirmed her transformation from awkward newcomer to role model.
