The L.A. County Sheriff's Department will receive more than $2.5 million to increase DUI patrols and checkpoints throughout the county, thanks to a Board of Supervisors decision on Tuesday. The Castaic Animal Care Center is also in line to receive funds.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Castaic Animal Care Center may receive funding for DUI patrols and "meet and greet" yard improvements, respectively. The county board will vote on whether to approve the funds at their Tuesday meeting.
Four new trailers donated to the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control will better equip staff to transport animals and house them during an emergency. The Castaic Animal Care Center received one of the trailers.
Another rabid bat was discovered in the Santa Clarita Valley, this time by a family dog. The dog is now being quarantined, and all local pet owners are reminded to vaccinate their animals and to beware of bats acting strangely.
