Santa Clarita City Council Extends Homeless Shelter's Lease

With a unanimous vote, Santa Clarita City Council members voted to extend the lease with Bridge to Home for its emergency winter shelter Tuesday at City Hall.

“It was a (4-0) vote to allow the homeless shelter to allow the shelter to be at the Drayton Street location for the next three years,” said Councilman TimBen Boydston.

There was also a concern, which was brought up by Councilwoman Marsha McLean, and seconded by Boydston, that the shelter’s lease left it subject to cancellation without City Council approval.

KHTS Celebrates Another Unsung Hero In Santa Clarita: Tim Davis

As head of the nonprofit organization that operates the Santa Clarita Valley's only emergency winter shelter since 1995, Tim Davis has worked tirelessly and selflessly on behalf of people in need in our community for more than a decade and a half.

It’s no overstatement to say that without his steady leadership and guidance the past decade and a half, what's now known as the Bridge to Home shelter — which helped nearly 300 people aka clients (including families) during the 2011-2012 season — would not likely exist.

That’s why Davis is Mercedes-Benz of Valencia’s latest Santa Clarita Unsung Hero.

Santa Clarita Valley Officials Seek Volunteers' Help For Homeless Count

From 7-10 p.m. next Thursday, shelter officials are asking for volunteers over the age of 18 to help conduct a biannual count.
