    Canyon Baseball Team Takes Over First Place In Foothill League Standings

    The Canyon baseball team needed extra innings to knock Valencia out of first place in the Foothill League standings.

    Canyon beat Valencia, 2-1, scoring the winning run in the top of the eighth inning. The Cowboys win coupled with a Saugus loss to West Ranch leaves Canyon all alone in first place in league.

    Chris Serrano capped a 4-for-4 day driving in the winning run with a bases-loaded infield single. He also scored a run and stole a base.

    Santa Clarita Winter Basketball Championship Celebrates The Season

    The City of Santa Clarita’s winter basketball season wrapped up with a championship game at the Master’s College Gymnasium Saturday.

    “We created a big game atmosphere for participants,” said Rich Carr, recreation supervisor for the City of Santa Clarita. “We offered player introductions, music and play by play announcing.”

    Canyon Baseball Team Posts Convincing Win Over West Ranch

    The Canyon baseball team put the entire Foothill League on notice with a 13-4 win over West Ranch.

    Canyon scored six runs in the fourth inning to take an 11-2 lead over the reigning Foothill League champion.

    Canyon catcher Justin Stark was 3-for-4 with a double and drove in four runs. Vinnie Fitzgerald walked twice, singled and scored three runs in the Foothill League opener for both teams.

    The Master's College Faces Carroll College In First Round Of NAIA Women's Basketball Tournament

    The Master’s College women’s basketball team opens the NAIA Division I National Tournament against Carroll College from Montana today in Frankfurt, Ky.

    The Master’s College women are ranked 10th in the NAIA and seeded third in their regional bracket.

    Carroll College is ranked No. 24 in the NAIA and finished in second place in the Frontier Conference.

    Trinity Boys Basketball Team Ends Playoff Run In Second Round Of CIF Southern California Regionals

    The Trinity boys basketball team ended its CIF state playoff run against Horizon Christian, 52-33, in the second round of the Southern California Division V Regionals.

    The Knights took an early lead in the first quarter, but Horizon Christian, the top-seeded team in the Southern California Regional slowly pulled away as the game unfolded.

    Ryan Brooks and Ian Caddow each scored a team-high seven points for Trinity. Brooks also had seven rebounds.

    Trinity Boys Basketball Team Wins First Round Game In CIF Southern California Regionals

    The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team won its first-round game in the CIF State Southern California Regional playoffs. Trinity beat Tranquility, 63-49, and will move on in the Division 5 regional.

    The Knights, the No. 9 seed in the playoffs, led by 10 points at halftime, 33-23, and were up by 26 points in the third quarter.

    Spencer Klehn led Trinity in scoring with 17 points.

    Trinity Boys Basketball Team Loses CIF Championship, Prepares For State Regionals

    The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team came up a little short in the championship game of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs.

    The Knights lost to top-seeded Rio Hondo Prep, 47-40, at Mater Dei High School on Saturday morning. The Trinity boys were playing for the first CIF championship in school history.

    Ryan Brooks scored a team-high 12 points for Trinity, but he was the only player in double figures.

    Valencia, Saugus Baseball Teams Reach Semifinals Of Easton Tournament

    The Valencia and Saugus baseball teams are in the semifinals of the Easton Tournament.

    Valencia beat Crespi, 5-3, in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Hunter Holland and AJ Balta each had two hits for the Vikings. Balta had an RBI double.

    Saugus beat Quartz Hill, 9-7, in their quarterfinal game. The Centurions were up, 9-3, in the seventh inning and had to stop a late Quartz Hill rally.

    Valencia plays Harvard-Westlake in one semifinal match-up on Saturday. Saugus takes on Chaminade in the other semifinal game.

    The Master's College Women's Basketball Team Upset In Quarterfinals Of GSAC Tournament

    The Master’s College women’s basketball team lost to Biola, 56-51, in the quarterfinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament.

    The Lady Mustangs are ranked No. 11 in the NAIA and were the third-seeded team in the conference tournament.

    Lena Rivera and Jacquelyn Marshall each scored 14 points for The Master’s College women, but they were the only players in double figures. The team shot 29 percent from the field.

    Trinity Boys Basketball Team Faces Rio Hondo Prep In CIF Championsip Game

    The Trinity boys basketball team will play for its first CIF championship in school history on Saturday at Mater Dei High School.

    Trinity takes on Rio Hondo Prep at 9:30 in the morning in the championship game of the Southern Section Division 6 playoffs.

    Trinity is the No. 2 seed in the playoffs and the second-place team from the Heritage League. The Knights beat Valley Christian, 64-53, in the semifinals.

    Rio Hondo Prep is the top-seeded team in the Division 6 playoffs and the second-place team from the Prep League. Rio Hondo beat Desert Chapel, 78-74, in their semifinal game.
