    Stevenson Ranch Woman Pleads No Contest In Fatal DUI Crash

    A Stevenson Ranch woman arrested in connection with a fatal DUI crash that killed a Lake View Terrace man could receive up to four years in state prison when she's sentenced next month. Suzette L. Crockett, 46, of Stevenson Ranch, was booked Aug. 11 on a charge of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Under the terms of her plea deal, the sentence is up to a judge, and there’s a 48-month maximum on the amount of time she could be sentenced to in state prison, said Emily Cole, the deputy district attorney in charge of the case’s prosecution.

    Santa Clarita Deputies Arrest Suspect In Burglary, BB Gun Shooting

    Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a Santa Clarita man Wednesday night after responding to reports of a commercial burglary and a BB gun assault. Brandon Spencer, 22, of Canyon Country, was arrested on assault with a deadly weapon charges last night in Saugus. The investigation began after a report of a commercial burglary at a hobby store on the 25600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road, according to Sheriff’s Station arrest records. Several Airsoft-style guns were stolen from the store after it closed, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit deputies.

    Santa Clarita Deputies To Host DUI-Driver's License Checkpoints

    Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies are hosting a pair of DUI checkpoints Friday within Santa Clarita city limits. The checkpoints will take place within Santa Clarita city limits, from about 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. Officials touted the deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints as a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol- or drug-involved crashes in a Nixle news release.

    Santa Clarita Deputies Arrest 1, Cite 11 In Narcotics, Curfew Patrol

    Six Santa Clarita teens were cited, five adults were cited and another was arrested as part of a curfew-enforcement operation started Friday by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies. Deputies conducted the citywide patrol with the Crime Prevention Unit, the COBRA Unit and the Crime Impact Team from 9 p.m. into the early morning hours Saturday. The deputies deployed on the paseos, trails, and streets throughout the city of Santa Clarita, using patrol vehicles, deputies on bicycles, and deputies on foot patrol.

    Santa Clarita Valley Woman Gets 1-Year Sentence For Animal Cruelty

    A Santa Clarita Valley woman arrested on animal cruelty charges in February was sentenced to one year in county jail and three years of formal probation. Desiree Lenore Martinez, 41, of the 23200 block of West Avenue D, was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies Feb. 10, after Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies and Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control officers responded to a service call. Deputies discovered a small pitbull mix inside the Martinez’s residence. On Feb. 9, Martinez choked the dog with shoelaces and hit it in the head with a rock, according to Deputy District Attorney Lyle Riggs, who prosecuted the case.
