Squirrel On High Wires Causes Power Outage
Rodent's fatal run leaves nearly 3,000 in the dark Tuesday morning.
It was a squirrel that left 2,800 Newhall residents in the dark about 7 a.m. Tuesday, accidentally grounding himself as he ran across the wires at Valley Street and Lyons Avenue, causing a transformer to blow.
The late rodent’s mishap caused hot wires to come down in the street and snarl traffic during the morning rush hour.
Edison spokesman Chris Coronel said that power was restored to the majority of homes, but some apartments were still without power in the early afternoon. Power is expected to be completely restored by 8 p.m.
