Each year, California State Assembly members choose a Woman of the Year representative from their district. This year, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth chose Ann Kerman to receive those honors.

Kerman currently serves as the Constituent Program Manager of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. She is perhaps best known, however, for her 8 years as Executive Director of the SCV School and Business Alliance. The Alliance serves to provide local students with school to career education and experience.

“I am very proud to present Ann Kerman as the 2008 woman of the year for the 38th Assembly District,” said Smyth. “I have had the pleasure of working with her for several years and her commitment to the students of our community is unmatched.”

Assemblyman Smyth also pointed to a host of other community involvement, including serving as Chair of the Santa Clarita Valley Nonprofit Leaders Council, Chair of the Santa Clarita Career Technical Education Consortium, Vice President of Membership for AAUW, active member of the Valley Industrial Association Education Committee, Connecting to Success, VIA STAR, Auto Technology Advisory Board, Counselor/Work Experience Advisory Board, and New Teacher Pipeline Advisory Board.

She has been married for thirty years, and is mother to Ruth 24, Lisa 18 and son Bradley, 22.

She will be honored on the Floor of the California State Assembly in Sacramento on Monday March 10th.
