Local resident Gary Borge was honored Tuesday night by the
Santa Clarita Sheriff's station. On behalf of Sheriff Lee Baca, local Sheriff's
Captain Anthony La Berge presented Borge with the department's Star Scroll, the
highest kudos given out to civilians.

Borge jumped into action on September 12th, 2008, when he noticed that two people in
his community pool were drowning. He jumped into the water and retrieved both
victims, while he ordered nearby teenagers to call 911.

Both victims were unconscious and not breathing, so Borge
immediately performed CPR.

ImageAccording to Sheriff's officials, his actions were directly
linked to the fact that emergency crews were able to save one of the victims.

"One thing's for sure, I don't consider myself a hero," said
Borge. "I don't think anyone in this room would have done anything different.
You see two people who need help and you just do what comes natural."

Despite a light agenda, the Council did make an important
decision regarding plans for a Materials Recovery Facility. Read more on that and

Council meeting by clicking here .
