    Concerts In The Park Celebrates 2014 25 Years With Popular Returning Acts

    This year marks the 25th anniversary of Santa Clarita’s popular summertime tradition, ‘Concerts in the Park,’ presented by First Entertainment Credit Union.  The City of Santa Clarita is orchestrating an unforgettable lineup for the 2014 series that’s guaranteed to bring audiences to their feet all night long.  The free, annual concert series kicks off at Central Park on July 12 at 7:00 p.m.

    WorkSource To Host Recruitment For Industrial Contractor Company

    The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center will host a free recruitment event on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a variety of skilled labor positions available with a nationwide Industrial Contractor company. The event will be held at College of the Canyons in Suite 250 at the University Center, located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road. 

    Peachland Elementary Hosting Two Events

    May 22 at 5:45 p.m. Peachland will be having its open house to celebrate all of the hard work and accomplishments of our students we will be holding our annual Open House.  To kick off this event, each grade level will perform a dance for all parents, staff and community members. 

    Also students and families will walk to school on Friday, May 30.  Families will gather at 7:45am at the corner of Peachland and Cherry to take the final steps together as a group.  Our bussed students will be dropped of one corner block earlier to walk to school as a group upon their arrival. 

    American Red Cross Hosts Community Blood Drive On May 21 At City Hall

    The City of Santa Clarita and the American Red Cross are teaming up to host a Community Blood Drive on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. at City Hall to help save lives.  According to the American Red Cross, one blood donation can help save up to three lives.  There is always a need for blood in the community and the need is greater nationwide, in which case someone needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds, according to the Red Cross.   

    Women’s Conference To Help Attendees Reach ‘Beyond Barriers’

    The annual College of the Canyons Women’s Conference returns this summer with a lineup of inspiring presenters and empowering breakout sessions designed to help attendees reach beyond the barriers faced throughout their lives and achieve their dreams.

    The 2014 College of the Canyons Women’s Conference “Beyond Barriers: Reaching Your Full Potential” will take place from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, located on the college’s Valencia campus (University Center Drive entrance).

    The event is being sponsored by presenting sponsor Boston Scientific Neuromodulation, Valencia, the COC Student Development Office, Mellady Direct Marketing, Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewing Company, KHTS AM 1220, Bake You Happy, and College of the Canyons.

    Annual COC Student Art Exhibition Returns For 18th Installment

    The College of the Canyons Art Gallery will present the “18th Annual Student Art Exhibition,” featuring a wide representation of work produced by the college’s talented student artists.

    The work on display will include painting, drawing, figure drawing, 2D design, 3D design, graphic design, photography, animation and media entertainment arts.

    This month, join the Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library as they host two exciting events for book enthusiasts of all ages. 

    City Of Santa Clarita Population Grows To 209,130

    The population of the City of Santa Clarita grew from 205,075 in January 2013 to 209,130 in January 2014, according to a report by the California State Department of Finance. The new population count represents a growth of 4,055 residents, or 1.98 percent, in the City of Santa Clarita.

    College Of The Canyons Selected To Participate In ‘Pathway To Law School’ Initiative

    College of the Canyons has been selected to participate in a new joint initiative launched by the California Community Colleges and The State Bar of California that will provide community college students a smoother pathway to six of California’s top law schools.

    City Hosts Free Panel Discussion With Artists May 6

    The City of Santa Clarita invites local artists to explore the world of public art from a business perspective with a FREE Panel Discussion on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street.  No RSVP is required to attend.
