Saugus, Vasquez Girls Soccer Teams Playing For CIF Championships
Centurions go from third place in Foothill League to final game.
The CIF Southern Section Division II girls soccer championship will be a match between two unlikely teams: Saugus and Harvard-Westlake.
The Saugus girls finished in third place in the Foothill League, and almost missed qualifying for the playoffs. Canyon and Valencia ended up sharing the Foothill League title, but it’s Saugus in the CIF championship game.
Their opponent, Harvard-Westlake, finished in third place in the Mission League, behind Flintridge Sacred Heart and Chaminade.
Saugus and Harvard-Westlake will meet at Warren High School in Downey on Friday night to decide the Division II champion. Game time is 7:30.
Vasquez High in Acton will also be playing for a CIF girls soccer championship. They face Alverno High on Friday night at 7 in the Division VII final at Mission Viejo High School.
