Saugus Girls Soccer No. 6 In CIF Poll
Valencia seventh, Canyon 10th in Division II.
The latest CIF Southern Section poll released Monday has the Saugus girls soccer team ranked sixth in Division II. Valencia is seventh and Canyon is tied for 10th.
All three teams are tied for first place in the Foothill League standings with two games left in the regular season. Canyon can make a case for rising in the polls when the team faces Valencia today. Saugus is at Hart and West Ranch plays Golden Valley.
Flintridge Sacred Heart is the top-ranked team in Division II and will most likely earn the No. 1 seed when playoff pairings are announced next week.
The Canyon boys soccer team, which clinched the Foothill League championship on Saturday, is nowhere to be found in the CIF Southern Section polls.
Canyon visits Saugus this afternoon. Golden Valley, the second-place team in the Foothill League standings, hosts Valencia and West Ranch is at Hart.
The Saugus girls basketball team can clinch the Foothill League championship tonight when the Centurions play Canyon. Saugus has a one-game lead over Valencia with two games to play. Saugus can wrap up the league title with a win and a Valencia loss to Golden Valley.
Saugus is ranked 10th in Division II-A. Valencia is ninth in Division II-AA.
On the boys side, first-place Golden Valley has a one-game lead over Hart. Golden Valley hosts Valencia and Hart plays West Ranch tonight. A Golden Valley win and a Hart loss will give the Grizzlies the Foothill League championship.
Golden Valley is ranked fourth Division III-A in the most recent CIF Southern Section poll. Diamond Ranch is the top-ranked team in Div. III-A. Hart is ranked eighth in Division III-AA. Valencia is sixth and West Ranch is ninth in Division II-AA.Thousand Oaks is No. 1 in Division II-AA and Campbell Hall first in the Division III-AA poll.
In football, Canyon quarterback Jordan Adamczyk has accepted a scholarship to Weber State, a team in the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly Division I-AA, in Utah, according to a report in The Signal.
