“We created a big game atmosphere for participants,” said Rich Carr, recreation supervisor for the City of Santa Clarita. “We offered player introductions, music and play by play announcing.”

Eight teams and four divisions participated in the event, players ranging from 12 to 14 years old, Carr said. The teams were narrowed down from the 154 teams, 1,500 players, that participated in the program this season.

Trophies were given to first and second place winners. The first place teams included The Clippers for major one, The Clippers for major two, The Mystics for major girls and Magic for senior boys.

Carr added that the Master’s College has been very supportive of the teams.

“We’ve been partnering with the Masters College for a number of events, we thought it was a great venue to culminate the season and give them the opportunity to play on a collegiate court and enjoy that experience,” Carr said.

The spring basketball registration opens March 25 and closes April 22.
