Trinity Classical And Santa Clarita Christian Basketball Playoff Run Ends

The Trinity Classical Academy and Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball teams ended their CIF State playoff runs in the second round of the Southern California Regionals.

Trinity lost, 60-33, to Renaissance Academy, the No. 1 seed in the CIF State Division 5 Southern California Regional. Renaissance Academy beat Santa Clarita Christian for the Southern Division 5A championship last week.

Renaissance led 21-14 at halftime. Trinity ends its season with a 19-9 record. The Knights won the Southern Section Division 6 championship and advanced to the second round of the CIF State playoffs.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys lost to View Park, 63-48, in the second round of the Division 5 Southern California Regional.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys set a school record with 21 wins. They also reached the championship game of the Southern Section playoffs for the first time in school history.

In high school softball, Valencia went 3-2 in the Tournament of Champions in Arizona. The Valencia girls capped the tournament with a pair of wins. They beat Coronado Nevada, 7-6, and Mohave, 13-5, in their final two games.

Brittney Ross-Smith drove in three runs against Coronaddo. She hit a home run against Mohave.

Erin Andris hit two homers and drove in four runs against Mohave. The Valencia girls hit five home runs in the game. They are 6-4 after their first 10 games.

In high school volleyball, the Saugus boys swept Quartz Hill in three sets and improved to 8-0.

Blake Webb had 10 kills and Justin Coleman had 24 assists to pace Saugus.

Saugus plays Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks on Tuesday.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 102-80, and won their 11th game in a row.

The Clippers are off to Denver for a game against the Nuggets tonight.

In the NHL, the Kings take on the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at Staples Center.

The Kings have lost their past two games. Most recently, they lost to the Anaheim Ducks, 2-1, on Saturday.

Listen to the game between the Coyotes and the Kings tonight on AM 1220 KHTS. The puck drops at 7:30.
