Several prominent Santa Clarita high school athletes signed their national letters of intent Wednesday, formally committing themselves to their college sport.
Canyon High School
Canyon’s Cade Apsay signed to play football at the University of Colorado. Apsay threw for 3,103 yards, 28 touchdowns and a league-low six interceptions on his way to being named Foothill League Player of the Year and 1st Team All-CIF.
Sarah Cipperley, also of Canyon, will play soccer at Utah Valley University. Cipperley began her varsity career as a freshman, earning 1st Team All-Foothill League as a freshman and a sophomore.
Golden Valley High School
Golden Valley had a pair of players from the girls soccer team commit to college programs. Courtney Ravenall signed her letter to play for Cal State-Stanislaus and Samantha Jennings will go to Division 1 University of San Francisco. Jaiden France is a Grizzly who signed his letter of intent during the early period in November to play baseball at Grambling State University.
Hart High School
Hart saw three of the Indians football players make their commitments official. Blake Porter with Northern Arizona; Connor Wingenroth with Colgate; and Davis Koppenhaver with Duke.
Saugus High School
Five student athletes from Saugus made their commitments official. Austin Davenport will play football at New Mexico State; Katelyn Benavidez will play soccer at College of Idaho; Alana Shaw will play soccer at College of Saint Rose (Albany, NY); Abigail Frankian will run cross country at The Master’s College; and Alex Pearson will run cross country at Utah Valley University.
