Santa Clarita Sports: Valencia Baseball Rallied And Now Tied In First

The Valencia baseball team is on a roll and tied for first place in the Foothill League standings.

The Vikings beat Hart, 10-6, and won its sixth Foothill League game in a row.

Valencia jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the second inning. Chad Bible was 3-for-3 with a home run and scored four runs. Hunter Holland hit a three-run home run in the second inning.

The Vikings collected 13 hits in the game.

The Saugus baseball team beat Canyon, 8-2, scoring four runs in the second inning.

Roy Verdejo highlighted the four-run second with a two-run, two-out double.

Hart, Valencia and Saugus are tied for first place in the Foothill League standings with 6-2 records.

The West Ranch baseball team shut out Golden Valley, 13-0. Jake Bird tossed six scoreless innings and struck out eight.

West Ranch is a game behind the Foothill League leaders at 5-3. Golden Valley lost its eighth Foothill League game in a row.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-2, behind a big night from Yasiel Puig. He drove in two runs and tripled. Hanley Ramirez homered and Matt Kemp had two hits and scored a run.

The Dodgers and the Phillies wrap up their four-game series tonight at Dodger Stadium. Dan Haren starts for the Dodgers against Kyle Kendrick for the Phillies. First pitch is at 7:10.

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings will try to avoid the sweep in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs tonight.

The Kings play the San Jose Sharks in Game 4 of their opening round playoff series. The Sharks are up 3-0 and are coming off a 4-3 overtime win on Tuesday night.
