Santa Clarita Sports: Saugus Boys Soccer Loses In Extra Time

The Saugus boys soccer team lost a nail-biter to Culver City in the wild-card round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs.

Culver City scored in the second overtime period and won, 2-1, eliminating Saugus from the playoffs.

Saugus ends its season with a 10-11-3 record.

The Trinity Classical Academy boys soccer team lost to Santa Clara, 3-1, in the wild-card round of the Division 7 playoffs.

Santa Clara scored two goals in the second half to win the game. Trinity ends its season with a 5-12-0 record.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons lost to Fullerton College, 6-4, its fourth loss in a row.

Fullerton scored two runs in the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie.

In high school basketball, four teams from the Foothill League are in the CIF Southern Section girls basketball playoffs.

Hart is the No. 9 seed in the Division 2 playoffs and opens at home against Sultana on Saturday night. Hart won the Foothill League championship. Sultana is the third-place team from the Mojave River League.

The Canyon girls are the No. 5 seed in the Division 1A playoffs. They play El Toro in the first round.

The Valencia girls are the No. 8 seed in the Division 1AA playoffs and play JW North in the first round.

The Golden Valley girls earned an at-large bid and will play Rancho Alamitos in the first round of the Division 2A playoffs.

In college basketball, The Master’s College women beat Westmont, 68-46, in a matchup of top 10 teams in the NAIA.

The Master’s College, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, led 35-21 at halftime. The Lady Mustangs improved to 20-6. Westmont, ranked No. 9 in the NAIA, dropped to 16-8.

The Master’s College men made it a sweep of Westmont, 85-84, in double overtime.

In the NBA, the Clipper lost to the visiting San Antonio Spurs, 113-103, in their first game back from the All Star break.

The Clippers are off to Minnesota for a game against the Timberwolves on Friday night.

Sochi Winter Olympics – Medal Count

In the Winter Olympics, David Wise won the first gold medal for the United States in halfpipe skiing.

The United States and the Netherlands are tied for the most medals in the Sochi Olympics with 20. Both countries have won six gold medals.
