Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 17, 2014

The West Ranch girls golf team won the second Foothill League match of the season. Golden Valley’s Elisa Pierre shot the low round for the second time in a row.

West Ranch won the match by 18 strokes over Golden Valley at the Balboa Municipal Golf Course in Encino.

West Ranch’s Ashley Mayhall shot the low round for her team, a 1-over 37.

Pierre shot an even par 36.

In high school volleyball, the Saugus girls lost to Village Christian, 3-0, and dropped to 4-4 overall.

The Village Christian girls are ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA poll.

In college volleyball, the College of the Canyons women take on Riverside City College tonight at home.

The Lady Cougars are 4-3 after the first seven games of the season. They are coming off a loss to Cypress College in the Cerritos Tournament on Saturday.

COC is 3-1 in its past four matches.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Rockies in Colorado, 10-4, and snapped their three-game winning streak.

The Giants beat the Diamondbacks, 2-1, and gained a game on the Dodgers in the National League West standings. The Dodgers lead the NL West by three games over the Giants.
