Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 15, 2014

The Hart football team won its first game of the season.

The Valencia football lost for the first time.

Hart beat Paraclete, 49-17, at College of the Canyons. The Indians led 28-3 at halftime behind another big game from quarterback Brady White.

He threw six touchdown passes and had 344 yards. Blake Fall caught three touchdown passes.

Hart is the No. 8 team in the CIF Southern Section West Valley Division and improved to 1-2.

The Valencia football team lost to Chaminade, 38-20. Chaminade beat Hart last week.

Valencia led 7-0 in the first quarter, but Chaminade scored 28 unanswered points to pull away.

Valencia dropped to 1-1. Chaminade, ranked No. 7 in the state, improved to 3-0.

Santa Clarita High School Football News

The West Ranch football team beat Knight, 43-12, and won its second game of the season.

Jackson Clark made his first start at quarterback for West Ranch and threw for 428 yards and four touchdowns.

The Saugus football team beat Buena, 63-35, and won its first game of the season.

Running back Troy Williams gained 223 yards and scored five touchdowns for Saugus.

The Canyon football team beat Eastside, 28-7, and won its first game of the season.

The Golden Valley football team lost to Crescenta Valley, 48-25. It was the second loss in a row for Golden Valley after winning its season opener.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team beat Mary Star of the Sea, 49-48. Santa Clarita Christian blocked an extra point in the fourth quarter to win the game.

The Trinity Classical Academy football team beat Desert Christian, 35-12, and won its first game of the season.

In college football, College of the Canyons lost to Citrus College, 27-24. COC is 0-2 to start the season.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Giants, 4-2. Clayton Kershaw won his 19th game of the season. Matt Kemp hit a two-run home in the sixth inning.

The Dodgers took two of three games against the Giants over the weekend. They have a three-game lead over the Giants in the National League West standings.

The Dodgers are off to Colorado to start a series against the Rockies tonight. Roberto Hernandez starts for the Dodgers against Christian Bergman for the Rockies.
