Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update September 10, 2014

The Valencia girls volleyball team won its season opener against Notre Dame Academy, 3-2.

Lindsey Knudsen had 16 kills. Emily Bible had 11 kills. Both girls had 15 digs apiece.

In college volleyball, The Master’s College women lost to Concordia, 3-1, in the Golden State Athletic Conference opener.

Concordia is the No. 3 team in the NAIA. The Master’s College women dropped to 8-5 overall.

In girls tennis, Hart beat Quartz Hill, 18-0.

The Hart girls improved to 3-0. They take on Campbell Hall on Thursday.

In college golf, The Master’s College men finished in fifth place at the UC Ferguson Invitational at the Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.

Joey Downey shot the low round for the Mustangs. He was 3-over in the three-round tournament and tied for 20th place. Joshua Gardella shot a 5-over and finished in 26th place for The Master’s College.

Oklahoma City University won the tournament.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the Padres, 6-3.

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood.
