The Valencia football team won its season opener and rose to No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section West Valley Division poll.

The Vikings posted a convincing win over Palmdale on Friday night. They are the only team in the Foothill League with a winning record.

Hart dropped to No. 8 in the Southern Section West Valley Division poll. The Indians lost to Chaminade and are 0-2 to start the season.

In cross country, the Saugus boys are ranked No. 1 for the second week in a row in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 poll. The West Ranch boys moved up a spot to No. 9.

The Saugus girls are ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll. The Saugus girls were ranked No. 1 in the cross country preseason poll.

In college soccer, The Master’s College men won their first game of the season, 3-0, over Westminster from Utah.

The Mustangs scored two goals in the first half. Humphrey Mahowa gave his team a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 22^nd minute. Joey Mikulas made it 2-0 with a goal in the 43^rd minute.

The Master’s College is 1-4.

The Master’s College women beat Embry-Riddle from Arizona, 5-2. Katie Farris scored four goals. She has eight goals in six games.

The Master’s College women, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA, are 4-2.
