Santa Clarita Sports: Santa Clarita Update October 02, 2014

The Valencia football team takes on Centennial of Corona tonight at Valencia High School.

Valencia is ranked No. 4 in the CiF Southern Section West Valley Division. The Vikings are coming off a 35-0 shutout over Santa Monica last week.

Centennial is 2-2 and had a bye last week. The Huskies beat Long Beach Poly, 42-34, two weeks ago.

The Saugus football team plays Camarillo at College of the Canyons.

Saugus is 1-3 and coming off a bye. The Centurions lost to Ventura, 48-14, two weeks ago.

Camarillo is ranked No. 9 in the Southern Section Northern Division and 3-1.

Golden Valley plays Chatsworth at Canyon High School. Golden Valley is looking for its third win of the season and a winning record. The Grizzlies are 2-2 after shutting out Hawthorne, 28-0, last week.

In college soccer, The Master’s College women soccer team shut out William Jessup, 4-0. The Lady Mustangs scored three goals in the first half.

Sarah Stead scored three goals for the Lady Mustangs, ranked No. 9 in the NAIA.

The Master’s College men’s soccer team beat William Jessup, 4-3.

In the major leagues, the Giants shut out the Pirates, 8-0, in the National League Wild Card game.

Brandon Crawford hit a grand slam in the fourth inning.

The Giants will face the Washington Nationals in the National League Division Series.
