The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team shut out the Sedona FC Strikers, 3-0, in a USL W-League game.
The Blue Heat scored all three goals in the first half.
The first goal came on an own goal by the Strikers in the fifth minute. Celina Minissian made it 2-0 with a goal in the 12th minute.
Hannah Sanders gave the Blue Heat a 3-0 lead in the 20th minute.
The Blue Heat evened their record at 3-3. Their next game is against the Seattle Sounders on the road on Sunday.

In more soccer action, the United States beat Ghana, 2-1, in pool play at the World Cup in Brazil.
John Brooks scored the game-winner in the 86th minute. Clint Dempsey gave the United States a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first minute of the game. It was the fastest goal the United States has scored in the World Cup.
Next up for the United States is Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies, 6-1. Dee Gordon went 4-for-4 with a triple and scored two runs.
Hyun-Jin Ryu won his eighth game of the season.
