Golden Valley High graduate Billy Fredrick was selected to play in the California Collegiate League All Star game at the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy next week.
Fredrick, who is playing at UC Santa Barbara, is one of a handful of players who played in Southern California high schools chosen to play in the all star game.
The all stars were split into two teams, one from Southern California and one from Northern California.
Fredrick will be playing on a team called the Santa Paula Halos.

In auto racing, the Southwest Tour Trucks make their second trip to Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield on Saturday night.
Neil Conrad won the Southwest Tour Trucks race at Kern County in June. Ronnie Davis won the last Southwest Tour Trucks race at the Bullring in Las Vegas. Zack Green has won four Southwest Tour Truck races and leads the series standings.
The NASCAR Late Models, Legends, Bandoleros and Mini Stocks are also scheduled to race on Saturday night. The green flag drops at 7.
Los Angeles Dodgers
In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the visiting San Diego Padres, 2-1. Clayton Kershaw pitched a complete game to earn his 11th win of the season. He had his scoreless inning streak snapped at 41 2/3 innings.
Chase Headley hit a two-out solo home run in the sixth inning to break Kershaw’s scoreless streak.
Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-4 and drove in a run for the Dodgers.
The Dodgers and Padres continue their series tonight. Dan Haren starts for the Dodgers against Jesse Hahn for the Padres.
